Over the weekend, at Hoon Hay Park in Christchurch, and alongside our Healthy Families Ōtautahi whānau, we had the opportunity to be a part of the Pacific Series 2020. An event, shining a light on sport as a vehicle to bring the community together to share, embrace and celebrate culture, alongside actively promoting health and wellbeing.
A host of nations gathered from Aotearoa to Papa New Guinea and the Cook Islands plus more. Over the course of two days, 69 teams and 152 games of rugby league were played, bringing together community spirit, cultural traditions and sporting passion. This year the Series focused on mental wellbeing as well as raising the profile of a Smokefree Aotearoa 2025, it’s a refreshing example of collectively reaching community through sport, while supporting people to live healthier and happier lives.
We captured a video of our experience at the Pacific Series 2020.
