Bridget Allan is the Chief Executive for Te Awakairangi Health Network and an original member of Healthy Families Hutt Valley’s Strategic Leadership Group. Bridget has many years of experience in the NZ health sector, working as a senior manager in primary care and community organisations, District Health Board, Ministry of Health and Wellington School of Medicine.

“Working with Healthy Families Hutt Valley is different than other partnerships because the Strategic Leadership Group doesn’t come together because of our positions but because of our commitment to this important kaupapa and being able to make systems level change that benefits whole of communities.”

Bridget is passionate about how the environment people live in (whether natural, built, economic, social or cultural) impacts our health and wellbeing, and how effective community action and committed leadership can make a positive difference for our communities.  As the CE of Te Awakairangi Health Network, Bridget and her team support and influence all of the general practices in the Hutt Valley, assisting them and their patients to live healthier lives. She has encouraged general practice staff to voice their concerns about unhealthy environments in the Hutt Valley, and their constructive ideas for improvements.

Bridget is very aware of the impact that the inequities in our society have on our people, impeding their ability to live good lives. She loves working with a committed group of people to make a positive and sustainable difference in our communities, so that everyone (regardless of background) can live, learn, work and play in a vibrant, inclusive and healthy city.

“I really enjoy the in-depth discussions and the honesty that occurs in our Strategic Leadership Group and the huge creativity of the Healthy Families Hutt Valley team. The innovation they bring to the mahi and the way that they facilitate and communicate helps us all to play a role in growing the health and wellbeing of our communities.”
