Who inspires you?

My two beautiful tamariki are my greatest inspiration. They motivate me to be fully present in the moment and drive my commitment to creating a safe future where they can thrive in anything they choose to do.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I find it refreshing learning new things and feel energised through spending time with whānau and travelling. I volunteer in many spaces including coaching kids in multiple sports and actively contributing to my community. Personally, I enjoy connecting to te taiao through observation, using those observations as a foundation for learning, teaching and integrating that knowledge into everything I do!

What is your favourite book?

7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey. In 2018, a career mentor told me to read this book. After disclosing that I had never finished reading a book besides reading short Māori pūrākau to my son, I finished it in a couple of months, returned from a holiday and I quit my job to align to something more meaningful. The journey continues!

I also enjoy reading and learning from the examples of Māori leaders doing things differently to disrupt the system that has a positive impact on our people, so Te Kai a te Rangatira is a good read too.
