Who inspires you?

My son Kaitiaki-Manawa – we are very close and at 7 years old, it amazes me how many times our roles change as Tuakana-Teina teaching-learning.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Travel and spend time with my whānau. I want to explore more of NZ especially Te Waipounamu.

Recently, picked up whakairo of taonga pūoro and supporting the old rugby league club Te Aroha Eels

What is your favourite book?

7 habits of highly effective people by Stephen R. Covey. In 2018, a career mentor told me to read this book. After disclosing that I had never finished reading a book besides reading short Māori pūrākau to my son, I finished it in a couple of months, returned from a holiday and I quit my job to align to something more meaningful. The journey continues!

I also enjoy reading and learning from the examples of Māori leaders doing things differently to disrupt the system that has a positive impact on our people, so Te Kai a te Rangatira is a good read too.
